General Information
The Columbiettes is an organization of over 13,000 Catholic women, 17 years of age or older, who are affiliated with the Knights of Columbus. At present, we have over 200 auxiliaries across the nation and in Canada.
As a charitable, not-for-profit organization, we support many different charities and are involved in community activities as well as working collectively with our Brother Knights to promote faith and unity. We also have many social events as well as our religious and charitable works where there is an opportunity to meet other women who share your interest.
We are an organization of woman from all backgrounds united by our Catholic faith, our love of country and our commitment to helping others. Our patronesses are our Blessed Mother, St. Therese of Lisieux and St. Joan of Arc.
With Strength through Unity and Unity through Faith we can accomplish much.

Our Emblem & Objectives
The Columbiette emblem includes a blue circle that represents the world. The rays going out from the cross reflect our desire to serve God through faith, hope and charity. Those three virtues are symbolized by the three white stars underneath the cross. The very word COLUMBIETTES incorporates our objectives as follows:

What We Do
The Columbiettes are a unified body of Catholic women who work side-by-side with the Knights of Columbus. We care and we share. The activities and projects of our Order have been originated, developed and supported by our membership. Deep religious convictions are evident in all we do. Following are some of the Columbiettes’ activities: Corporate Communions, retreats, social events, sponsorship of school activities (such as essay contests, awards, and ministries), Eucharistic ministry, CCD Teachers/Volunteers, support of local charities. We also sponsor the Squirettes which is an organization for Catholic girls aged 10-17.
Improvement and accomplishing change in a rapidly changing world is dependent on a strong force of dedicated, Catholic women. The Columbiettes have taken a vital stand on issues which are devastating to human life. Some of these issues are: abortion, pornography, drug abuse, child abuse and euthanasia. We do care for all people and share of ourselves to make a better life for all.
Parishes & Meetings
The Don Bosco Columbiette Auxiliary was chartered on June 25, 1993 with 27 beautiful Catholic women. We have since grown to over 80 members. Four parishes are covered under our Auxiliary #7784: St. Joseph’s, Newton; Our Lady Queen of Peace, Branchville; Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Swartswood; and Good Shepherd, Andover. The benefits from membership are many—spiritual, moral, educational and social. To see a listing of our presidents from inception to now, please click here.
Meetings are held in the Sacred Heart Retreat Center located at 100 Old Swartswood Road in Newton nine times a year on the first Monday of the month. We start at 6:30 p.m. with a short prayer service and usually end before 9:00 p.m. No meetings are scheduled for January, July or August. It is not necessary to attend every meeting or participate in all activities. We ask that you do only the things you can. NOTE: Only members are eligible to attend meetings.
